If you’re just out of college and haven’t been able to find a job in the right field, then this blog post is for you. You may be feeling lost when it comes to choosing your career path after being laid off from your last position because of the pandemic. These tips should help guide you through some of those tough decisions:
Figure out the skills you have and what companies are looking for in job applicants. It’s also a good idea to find some mentors, who could be your teachers or supervisors from previous jobs.
Get back into shape by exercising on at least three days of the week–it’ll help keep you feeling healthy when making big decisions about your career path as well!
Figure it out:
take an assessment test that will show where your interests lie so you can know which direction is right for you. For example, if math puzzles make up 80% of the time spent with this type of activity then perhaps engineering would be best suited for someone interested in these types of games. Remember that there are many different ways to grow professionally so don’t feel like you’re locked into one type of job.
– Ask yourself: what do I want to be doing in the next five years? What will make me happy and fulfilled? Make a list of goals that could help guide your career path, such as “I want to travel abroad.” The more specific these are, the better. This way it’s easier for people to identify their skills and interests when looking at potential positions they may have been interested in or currently hold.
* If you’re not sure, take some time to explore different paths. This can be done by looking at job postings and getting in touch with recruiters that work for the company or field that interest you. They may have insight on what skills are needed from your previous jobs so they could better match it up with a position opening within their network of employers.
Network
Networking is also an important way to find out about potential careers: attend events where people who share your interests will show up, such as career fairs or open houses hosted by major companies and organizations. You’ll get information straight from them–including if there’s anything happening locally during the next few months!
Finally, don’t forget that everything has changed since the pandemic. There are a whole new crop of jobs and industries that have emerged, thanks to both the disease itself as well as what it’s done for our society in general. This means there are many more options than before when you were trying to figure out your next career move!
